The business should first decide what each product is called, how batches are formed, how locations are named, what statuses mean, and what data must be captured at each stage. Find every point you retype
A useful test is to walk the factory and mark every place where someone currently types or rewrites traceability information. Supplier batch typed onto intake form. Good system design removes avoidable manual effort. It accepts that people are skilled, busy and occasionally interrupted.
